The demand for raw wool ultimately lies with the consumers’ demand for certain apparel items. The consumer may be influenced by advertising, fashion, lifestyle and wealth. This demand is then passed down the processing chain to the various players (as seen in this slide).
The double arrow between the top-maker and the spinner, indicates that the spinners’ demand for a certain product is transmitted through the spinner’s specifications to the topmaker, while the ability of the topmaker meets that need by availing himself of the raw wool.
